N-CODE

Developing an identity and creating an online hub that promotes collaboration and communicates the expertise of the N-CODE network.

A bit about the project

N-CODE is a brand-new network set up to encourage collaboration among those with an invested interest in the management of neurological conditions. Run by the Centre for Systems Modelling and Quantitative Biomedicine (SMQB) at the University of Birmingham, the network wanted us to create a hub to bring together academics, healthcare providers, businesses, charities, policy makers, and individuals with lived experiences.

A brand to stand out, but fit in

Our first task was to create an identity for N-CODE. Their affiliation to SMQB was an important aspect of the brand, and in order to communicate this, we designed the N-CODE logo to be part of the SMQB ‘family’.

Taking cues from the typography and gradient used in the original, we added illustrated elements to each letter that related to N-CODE’s core focus and services.

Our Solution

For the website, we wanted to ensure that everything was signposted clearly through the use of bold colours and clear calls to action. Users now have an intuitive hub to discover the latest news, events, and clear avenues to get involved.

The gradient became a core part of the brand’s visual language, enabling us to add interest and impact to imagery and icons throughout the website.
