The Tarian Regional Cyber Crime Unit is a multi-disciplinary team of police officers and staff formed from three forces – South Wales, Gwent and Dyfed-Powys. They’re on a mission to contribute towards a safer, and more cyber-secure world.
They came to us to design and build a slick new bilingual website that communicated their purpose, detailed the support they offer to organisations and schools, and had key areas to educate users on ways they can stay safe when buying, browsing, and socialising over the internet.
Before we even started with the development of the new website, the entire user experience was meticulously wireframed and designed to ensure we included clear calls to action, and that there were easy avenues for visitors to get to the right information. A crisp colour palette was defined that complimented their brand using deep reds and a dark grey. Overlaid onto this, we injected some movement via a dynamic animated pattern to represent the constant flow of connections and communication in the cyber environment.
The subject matter could have easily become overly complicated for the average visitor to understand, but we broke it down into sections that made it interesting to read. We achieved this by incorporating high quality imagery, bright icons, clear subtitles, and interactive sections so that everything was easy to understand and digest. Sprinkled into each page are important prompts for users to easily report any cyber crime they’ve witnessed or been a victim of.

A resources hub was developed to allow Tarian to build a library of downloadable documents for users to access and use for educational or reference purposes. The hub allows for searching and filtering, and is easily maintained and updated for administrators of the site in the content management system.
In a world dominated by all kinds of devices that have access to the internet, it’s now more important than ever that people are aware of the dangers and how to protect themselves online, so we’re super proud to have worked on this one and Tarian couldn’t be happier!
